More information has been coming out about the new Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid and we’ve got some the details.
Here’s what we got:
- The S500 Plug-in Hybrid combines a twin-turbo petrol V6 engine with an 80kW electric motor. The combination offers up maximum power of 325kW and maximum torque of 650Nm, and enables the 5.1-metre-long luxury limousine to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
- The plug-in hybrid model has a claimed fuel use figure of just 2.8 litres per 100 kilometres, with the German maker claiming the car will be the “first luxury sedan with a certified consumption below three litres per 100km.
- The company had originally predicted fuel use of “less than 3.3L/100km” and peak power of 245kW.
- The S-Class Plug-in Hybrid is also expected to be the first production model from the brand to feature a plug-less recharging system, according to reports, following the brand’s announcement that it has teamed with BMW to develop and rollout inductive wireless recharging systems.
