Charge Rage taking over Road Rage for Electric Car Owners
At some point it had to happen. As the popularity of electric cars increases, the incidences of “Charge Rage” have been increasing.
In tech savvy Silicon Valley where many forward thinking companies have installed chargers for their staff, there have been instances of people unplugging each other from company charge stations while they are in the middle of a charge cycle.
Peter Graf, chief sustainability officer for German software company SAP, says the company’s 16 charging stations are now not nearly enough for the 61 employees who drive electric vehicles. Graf says cars are getting unplugged while charging, creating animosity between employees. A charge can take as little as 30 minutes.
In California, Pacific Electric co estimates that by 2020 there will be 80,000 electric cars on the states roads, up form 20,000 at the moment. The issue is there are currently only 500 charging stations available to the general public in California.
