Update: BMW X5 eDrive Plug-in Hybrid
BMW has yet a new update on its entrant to the emerging SUV Hybrid. The euro brand revealed that it has recently made some improvements on its Concept5 X5 eDrive SUV. The new SUV hybrid is scheduled to be released next year and it is already making some buzz in the automotive world.
Here’s what you should know about this new car from BMW:
- The original X5 eDrive concept is driven by BMW’s new plug-in hybrid system, pairing a 183kW turbo four-cylinder engine with a 70kW electric motor integrated into the transmission.
- BMW says the system will send the big SUV to 100km/h in less than seven seconds, with a combined fuel consumption figure of just 3.8 l/100km. Carbon emissions come in below 90g/km.
- Like most plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, the Concept5 also boasts a pure-electric driving mode, offering a range of around 30km.
- The concept can also hit 120km/h without switching away from electric-only power.
