Ford’s Territory replacement revealed
Ford Motor Company has finally unveiled the vehicle that will ultimately replace the locally manufactured Ford Territory SUV once manufacturing operations are completed at Broadmeadows, Australia in 2016.
The new facelifted Ford Explorer model unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show today has a much gallant look as well as a remarkably more posh trim level as compared to the 2011 explorer model.
Based on the trends in production and the design of this second-generation, this new family-sized SUV is assumed to be an indicator of how the subsequent generations will look like. In addition, the fresh Explorer also has a more squared front, including the headlamps and grille that mimics the Range Rover.
Besides the enormous advancements in its appearance, the new Explorer couples many technical features. For example, it’s been engineered with an improved suspension that makes it agile on-road dynamics as well as improving noise and vibration levels.
Compared to the current model, the rear of the new Explorer will swank a more curved and geometric design. The exhaust pipe tip will also have its tip incorporated into the bumper. The doors and the roof are however expected to be similar.
According to Ford, the vehicle will be the first model to be fitted with a turbocharged engine. The 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder-engine will generate 245 horses, making it more powerful than the previous version.

Although it has been christened the Ford Edge Concept, the SUV will strike the showrooms with a very similar glance. The new updates will essentially enable Ford to tender considerable competition to Explorer competitors like the Chrysler, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the Honda Pilot.
