Ford’s New SMAX Car Will Force you to Obey Speed Limits
In the United States alone each year there are over 30,000 deaths from car accidents. In many fo these accidents, speed is a major contributor.
For has decided enough is enough and is hoping to prevent accidents and speeding tickets by introducing cars that can see what the speed limit is and preventing drivers from driving any faster.
Ford’s Intelligent Speed Limiter tech will first appear on the new Ford S-Max that’s launching in Europe that could just change the way that we drive.
How does it work? Using a camera mounted on the windshield, the vehicle scans the road for signs. When the car enters a 20mph zone it slows the vehicles speed to match; not by applying the breaks but by reducing the amount of fuel being supplied to the engine.
If you do need a burst of speed in a hurry the system can be overridden by pressing a button on the console or by pressing on the gas pedal hard.
